The Lodge

Inside the Orchid Hotel complex, The Lodge is a multi-use events space built as a hybrid between a historic building and a freestanding, modern structure. The kitchen and long central table create a space for hosting cooking classes and parties, as well as pop-up dining events. The other half of The Lodge houses the functional bakery space for The Bake Shop. The historic elements of the original structure were exposed and restored, acknowledging the space’s roots and relationship to the surrounding neighborhood. The new addition — built out into the traditional courtyard space — utilized large expanses of glass that would allow the space to maintain an airy, outdoor, feeling. Pin-pricks of fiber optic lights, embedded in the ceiling, create an ambient light field across the space.
